Dr Cheung is an all round energy expert with over 30 years of experience across power, gas and oil. He has enormous experience across industry and consulting having worked for many companies and on international consulting projects across Africa, Europe, Middle East and the Far East. He is a chartered member of engineering and technology bodies in Europe, Far East and the Americas and with numerous qualifications across technical, commercial and management disciplines. He held senior level positions in the UK energy industry where he assumed technical and commercial responsibilities for the design, assessment, evaluation and delivery of balancing mechanism and ancillary services to meet operational security standards. He has also been involved in power systems analysis, economic dispatch, optimal generation scheduling and generation reliability evaluation. He led the development of modelling and programming systems for demand forecasting and wind generation analysis. He also led extensive research projects on wholesale market design, reforms and economic impact assessments. Prior to working in Europe, Dr Chak worked on several industry and consulting projects across the Far East, Middle East and Africa. He held senior managerial & technical positions in power stations and oil refinery plants; carried out power systems network project appraisal and master plan studies; power station construction, commissioning and operations; construction and operations of oil refineries; design of transmission lines and the associated substations, among many others.
